How We Got Started.
It all began in 2020, when Nick moved to Mahomet, and like many others, had some extra time on his hands due to the pandemic. He found himself spending lots of time out in the yard and quickly grew a passion for keeping his lawn in immaculate shape. Soon enough a neighbor asked him to take care of their lawn and from there, word spread. One by one, the request for Nick’s services grew, solely on the quality of his work and a eventually a business was born.
How We Got Our Name.
In 2021, as Nick officially launched his business, he realized he needed a name that reflected his journey. Around that time, he faced the heartbreaking loss of his childhood dog, Tucker. Their bond was incredibly special, and Nick wanted to honor Tucker’s memory. Inspired by Tucker’s Breed, an Australian Labradoodle, he came up with the name “That Dood Lawn Care.” The playful concept of a dog pushing a mower became the centerpiece of our logo, capturing the towns attention as we serviced the community and bringing smiles to everyone! It’s a tribute that resonates with our clients and showcases our commitment to quality lawn care!

Meet the Doods!
Australian Labradoodle Tucker
Tucker, being a Labradoodle, was the inspiration behind the name of our company. He was Nick’s childhood dog and built a strong bond with him through their walks and quality time spent together. Tucker passed away in 2021, leaving Nick with lots of time on his hands and an empty hole in his heart. Following his passing, Nick found solace in spending time outside in the yard. This quickly blossomed into a passion and eventually grew into the business we have today!
Australian Labradoodle Finley - 3 yrs old
Finley was the dog Nick got after Tucker passed, having some BIG paws to fill. His family had no clue they’d be able to love a dog the same, but he proved that theory wrong. Finley loves to play ball and cuddle with his momma (Tracy). At one year old, Finley was diagnosed with hip dysplasia, which required Femoral Head Ostectomy surgery. Finley has recovered well thanks to his weekly appointments with the aquatic team at the U of I veterinary hospital.
Australian Labradoodle Frank - 1 yr old
Frank, also known as “Frankie”, is the dog Nick got for Finley since his “human brothers” are now busy at work. Frank definitely keeps his family on their toes as he is still very much a puppy, but he’s built quite the bond with Finley. He LOVES to dig holes in the lawn and landscaping and chew everything and anything. Frank spends most of his time looking out into the backyard, watching for birds and squirrels, and waiting for his deer friends to come visit.
